  • The Semantic Web Introduction.  This video introduces the concept of the Semantic Web or Web 3.0.  The video discusses the notion of meaning as represented by Semantics and compares that to Syntax which is about structure.

  • This video continues an introduction to the Semantic Web.  The idea of how data is stored in the Semantic Web framework was compared to the relational database model.  The concept of 'open-data' was introduced.

  • You might want to see the first two videos first before watching this but that isn't necessary.

  • This describes how to create a FOAF Profile using the form that is available at: http://personalprofiles.fwwebdev.com/CreateProfile.html . There are other videos on this website that describe what FOAF is and what the Semantic Web is all about.  For more videos like this visit: http://futurewavedesigns.com/drupal7/training-videos-semantic-web

  • This video gives an overview of the Semantic Web for Genealogy Project I started developing using Semantic MediaWiki.  I discuss a number of benefits to using Semantic Web Technologies for Genealogy.  In addition, I discuss why using MediaWiki, a web application, a wiki can work well for this.  Semantic MediaWiki is a set of extensions to MediaWiki that allow for publishing linked data, with Semantic web technologies on a MediaWiki site.

  • This video discusses a Genealogy/Family Tree application that uses MediaWiki and the Semantic MediaWiki extensions.  I also mention that this video was recommended for consideration as Semantic MediaWiki of the month.
